Location

Duration

Two-Day Strategic Workshop

Focus Area

HR Strategy & Organisational Transformation

Project Overview

Following the integration of Seplat Energy and Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited (SepNU), Teasoo Consulting was engaged to facilitate a strategic Employment Relations Workshop aimed at developing a unified labour relations strategy for the newly integrated organisation.

The engagement brought together senior leaders, HR executives, labour relations professionals and subject matter experts to examine both legacy employment relations systems, evaluate integration challenges and co-create a future-ready framework that supports employee engagement, legal compliance and business continuity.

The Challenge

The merger brought together two organisations with fundamentally different employment relations models.

While Seplat operated a Joint Consultative Committee (JCC) model focused on employee engagement and collaboration, SepNU maintained a traditional unionised framework governed by collective bargaining agreements. Integrating these approaches required balancing employee rights, operational efficiency, regulatory compliance and organisational culture without disrupting business continuity.

Our Approach

Teasoo Consulting designed and facilitated a collaborative two-day strategy workshop that enabled stakeholders to analyse both employment relations models and jointly develop a practical integration framework.

The engagement included:

  • Comparative analysis of both employment relations systems
  • Labour relations and legal compliance sessions
  • Industry case studies from Nigerian and international mergers
  • SWOT analysis of both legacy models
  • Collaborative design of a Hybrid Employment Relations Model
  • Development of an implementation roadmap
  • Stakeholder communication and change management planning
  • Policy harmonisation recommendations and governance frameworks

The workshop encouraged open dialogue, evidence-based decision making and consensus building among key stakeholders.
